Here are some of the common questions we are asked at Chalk Springs. Please feel free to contact us if you need any further information about the fishery or the services we provide.
What days of the week do you open?
The fishery is open every day of the year, except Christmas Day and New Years Day.
What times can I fish ?
Fishing starts at 8.30am and continues until Dusk. (closing times for any particular day are posted at the fishery.)
How crowded do the lakes get, will I be be able to get a good spot?
Rod numbers are strictly limited to allow plenty of space for fishermen to move around the lakes.
Should I book or just turn up?
You are free to just turn up although pre-booking is always advisable as we operate on a first come, first served basis, as spaces are limited. We maintain a complete calender of dates that are already fully booked in our weekly catch section.
Is there a choice of tickets?
We have a selection of ticket options including day, half-day, and evening tickets. Please see our prices and booking page for more details
I am thinking of bringing a novice or junior with me fishing, is there any special rate or discount?
We provide discounts for juniors, novices and `father & son` tickets. Please see our prices and booking page for more details
I am not a fisherman, but I would love some fresh trout, can I turn up and purchase fresh fish?
We can supply whole trout to callers at the fishery. All we ask is that you allow plenty of time for us to net a fish from our stock ponds, especially at weekends and other busy periods. Fresh trout are not available at all times of the year - please telephone for availability.

Our aim is to provide the highest quality in stillwater trout fishing. We pride ourselves in having created a relaxed and friendly atmosphere which has become the trademark of Chalk Springs.

The lakes are stocked daily with brown and rainbow trout, reared on our own fish farm. The average stock size ranges from 2lbs to 5lbs with a generous number of fish into double figures. The stocking rates are designed to give everybody an excellent, yet challenging, day's fishing.
